Do you have more clothes & shoes in your wardrobe than contacts in your mobile?
More is not always merrier (I know that’s hard to hear) and as a confessed shopaholic this will be pretty tough to take, at least when it comes to your footwear. Inexpensive, on-trend shoes should be on the front of your giveaway pile. Also weed out any pairs that are simply too scruffy, marked or beyond repair—they’re just wasting your wardrobe space.
Your wardrobe doesn’t actually fit in your wardrobe?
When you can’t squeeze one more jacket in your coat cupboard, and you’re thinking about buying a rolling rack to house your spillover, it’s time to clean out the house.
When your clothes are getting creased and wrinkled due to a lack of space!
In addition to detoxing your wardrobe, you can tame a jam-packed wardrobe—and keep your clothes from getting wrinkled—by investing in thin hangers. The right hangers can give you about 25% more space, always a good thing!
When you haven’t worn something for two years, but you are planning on wearing it eventually!
Ladies, it’s time to get real. We know you love the idea of that blouse or bag, but if it’s not actually getting any use, it’s time to toss it to the curb.
When you can’t find what you need, or choose an outfit in 20 mins..
Do you find yourself wasting tons of time hunting for your favourite floral skirt? It simply might be because your wardrobe just isn’t organised in a way that suits you. Try storing your clothing by category—tops, dresses, and jackets—to make your search easier. Or find a system that works for you and your lifestyle.
You have 32 Breton style stripe tops and counting…
You probably buy an unhealthy amount of one item in particular (this is a sign you need to book an Image Consultation & Detox in itself) — striped shirts, jeans or black tops—as you search for the perfect version. I get it, but it’s time to address the issue. If you have more than five of the exact same piece, you need to edit. Try everything on, and only keep your favourites. Also look at the condition of those items – are they still wearable, clean, damaged or no longer fit. This in itself will lessen your collection!
You claim you have nothing to wear, but your wardrobe is full to the brim! Guilty? I suggest booking a detox right there!
Organise it like a pro!
There’s nothing worse than standing in front of your wardrobe completely overwhelmed with the clutter. C’mon, you know that feeling like you’re drowning in a sea of sweaters, top, and dresses you probably don’t even wear that often.
Ask yourself: “If I were shopping right this second, would I buy this item?” If the answer is no, out it goes. But why is this actually effective? Well, there’s no sense in hanging onto things you probably won’t ever wear again, like that cheap crop top you bought four months ago. If you can’t picture yourself in it, toss it to start the decluttering process.
