Anyone else love a basket bag?  Actually for the first time in years, I am feeling like I have a good selection of summer clothes and accessories, yes the accessories! For anyone that knows me you will know I am a bag lover! My husband often jokes about why don’t I buy another bag, just to add to my collection. In fact I think I could start a business hiring my bags out I have so many, but the truth is I love them all and I use them all so for me a good bag is an investment.

I could still list several jobs where I’m not so organised in particular I’m thinking about that cupboard that needs cleaning out, the spare room that needs a wardrobe detox (mainly the husbands stuff) and the new service I need to write and market.

But I’m going to think about ALL of that tomorrow and for today, I’m doing admin, marketing & getting my much needed roots and toes done and then a host of afterschool kids things.

All this sunshine is spoiling us, and yes it makes me reminisce about all things holiday.  Starting with of course the bags.

Oh YES the bags.  So whilst I love a good winter bag in a heavier design or leather, when it comes to Summer bags I have a good one or two.  I have used a few of the same ones for the last several years and I am more than happy with them.  In fact, I would go further as to say I LOVE them.

SO.. I was going to write about bags you can take on holiday.  However, what I realised is why can’t we use these bags all the time?  It’s a bit like saving your clothes for best – why don’t we want to feel our best all the time? I know I do, and having a great bag can give me that feeling too! I’m not talking full on beach numbers here that you can fit a small toddler in, but just a summery bag that works equally as well at 18 degrees as it does at 38 degrees.  A Summer handbag.  A nod of boho?  Maybe. Just something that is a bit lighter and more fun than a dark leather bag.

So I’m hoping your all with me on this one as I have done my best to come up with some gems, to suit all budgets that you can use on the plane, the beach, a city break and you won’t look out of place in Waitrose (or any supermarket of your choice… I am the strange person who thinks that Lidl, first thing in the morning when they’re baking the bread and the croissants, really smells like and makes me feel like I am in France.  I KNOW… v strange).

Palm Springs Foldover Tote from Anthropologie £68

A new favourite of mine, the bamboo see through bag. You don’t have to spend that much… (on a bag that things most likely will fall out of…can you tell, they’re maybe not the top of my wish list!  When did I get vaguely practical?  They do look very cool though…  and I know own this one in black but I’m an using it all the time. So I hope this is NOT the end of the beachy bag thang, and that some of you will start buying them.  I will be back with the large ones that we all need for work, holiday, for weekends, for Summer so fear not.  The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that there aren’t many round ones there and you can’t move on the high street without walking into a round bag – so many in fact that they deserve a whole blog post to themselves.

So get your French holiday feeling on, buy some baguettes and cheese and relish in a summer bag!
